HealthPay24 Delivers 545% Increase in Patient Responsibility Payments to Springhill Medical Center

HARRISBURG, PA – Springhill Medical Center, a 250-bed facility in Mobile, Ala., experienced a 545% increase in Patient Responsibility payments within the first 4 months of installing the HealthPay24 e-cashiering platform to boost point-of-service (POS) collections.  The results were recently presented by the Advisory Board Company at its 2014 Revenue Cycle Solutions Summit.

Established in 2002, HealthPay24 provides comprehensive Payment Management and Reconciliation Solutions to healthcare providers that address all components of payment channels, payment options, payment assistance, payment posting, cash handling, reporting and reconciliation throughout a health system’s enterprise.

According to Elizabeth Kelly, Director of Business Services at Springhill Medical Center, linking HealthPay24’s patented e-cashiering software to the Advisory Board’s PayNav patient responsibility estimation tool gave Springhill Medical staff the ability to collect on estimated amounts, immediately review all patients’ prior balances, and create patient friendly budget plans.

“Overall, HealthPay24 facilitated our ability to proactively manage patient financial responsibility from pre-service to post-service, leading to our dramatic increase in resolving patient accounts,” Kelly said.

Kelly explained that Springhill Medical Center also deployed HealthPay24’s Patient Portal to allow patients to manage their payments online.  “The implementation of an extremely easy-to-use online payment system was a key point in our decision to select HealthPay24.  Our patients are using it and, as a secondary gain, we are driving traffic to our web site.”

In addition to experiencing tremendous results, Springhill Medical Center also has been presented with the Advisory Board’s Revenue Cycle Achievement Award.
